WHO ARE WE?
OUSGG is a society for people interested in becoming or staying involved in Scouts and Guides at university.
The Oxford University Scout and Guide Group was founded in 1919, making us the oldest University Scout and Guide Group in the country and the second oldest in the world.
We are an active society, meeting up to do a different activity every week during term time. Recently, this has included:
-
night hikes
-
craft/cooking nights
-
pub quiz
-
taskmaster
-
and more!
We also hold trips and camps during the holidays, and regularly have members attending national events run by SSAGO, the Student Scout and Guide Organisation.
We have our own magazine called PostScript which we publish once a year. Click here to see the most recent edition, or click here for the full archive!
OUSGG also has two club mascots. Erik the Panda has been with the club since 1974 and we celebrate his birthday every year on Pancake Day. Having joined the club in 2019, Squid the rainbow octopus is a recent edition to OUSGG, and their birthday is celebrated on Halloween.
OUSGG is open to members of both Oxford University and Oxford Brookes, whether that be undergrads or postgrads. We welcome people from a diverse range of Scouting/Guiding backgrounds, as well as those who have never been a member of either organisation.
